Welcome to our Farm!
Early Boots Farm is located near Sauk Centre, Minnesota in Todd County on 200 acres of fields, forest and wetlands. The farm is home to our human family, a lovely herd of lowline angus cattle, a small flock of lambs, and many species of wildlife, from mallards to maitake, and whitetail deer to white pine and white oak. By cultivating perennials as fruit, forage, and forest, we work to produce excellent food for our customers, improve soil health and water quality, and provide healthy habitat for diverse flora and fauna.
Our Story
Learn about the beautiful sort of “beef farm” that happens when a student of restoration ecology and a longtime vegetarian fall in love.

What’s in a Name?
We believe that developing a sustainable future for agriculture requires lots of boots (and hooves) on the ground that feeds us. “Early boot” is a stage in the grass life cycle that is optimal for grazing, when the plant has stores of energy for future growth and grazing livestock, and a deep root system anchoring the soil and feeding its biology. The name Early Boots Farm expresses our commitment to work with natural cycles to grow healthy food in ways we can feel good about.
